Off topic or not, I believe that this is predominantly a rpg and therefore the main part of the game is pve.
In any rpg the ultimate aim of most players is to acquire the best of everything they can. I am not asking ANET to reverse the update, but some sort of balance for item cost/ item drops per team members is definitely needed. Missions now take up to 60% longer, while drops have remained the same...therefore making the relative cost of items per hour played more expensive.
Oh and yes, I can still solo farm UW, but I actually enjoy playing with other players....and am sure I will enjoy it again once I have learned the pattern of the AI.
So, if ANET are going to keep 'balancing' skills, can they also please balance item costs and item drop rates too.
Aggro managment pfft. Love it when I take on 1 group and henchies chase them all the way to the next. Even when I stop attacking its not always that they immediatley stop.
This update had a good theroy, if a metor shower is bashing you to bits, wouldn't you run away? I think it was implemented poorly.
My monk finds it hard to use Healing Touch, but it's only one spell.
My warrior has the hardest time. He must now chase the mobs fleeing from friendly AoEs. In theory, every attack on a fleeing foe is a critical attack. Even while using Rush or Sprint, I cannot notice any increase in damage. Do the mobs just stop right before I hit them?
Using a trapper build for UW with my ranger has become useless. The monsters will trigger my trap, then run out before it does any damage.
I would like to see either an increase in DPS to AoEs or decrease in AI reaction times. It does make sense that they would run out of AoEs. It does not make sense that they can react before the spell hardly goes off.
Well, if thats being done, its being done equally by both sides of the issue, since the results have remained more or less unchanged ( give or take a point or two) for at least the past 12 hrs. or so.
The update was implemented poorly, as was this "grudge" from A-Net against solo monks that I used to see as pointless whining by the latter. What A-Net is doing is taking a player's time towards creating a build that destroys the poor AI created by their own Devs, deciding to throw that time away, all for the sake of proving that their game can show a great deal of realism by fixing things that weren't broken.
The poster who mentioned that a Griffon doesn't mind that he's being swiped in the face for 50 damage, yet flees while taking 2, had a very valid point (as well as a very amusing one). This update was nothing but a cheap shot towards solo farmers.
And, surprise everyone! I've never had an invinci monk, nor have I solo farmed longer than 3 hours on this game, in total, EVER. I acquire the majority of my gold and items not by farming, but by doing the missions and earning the gold the way A-net "wants" me to acquire it. Just recently, this became boring. So, for less than an hour a day for the last week or so, I've been finding ways to solo farm, and my experience was a humbling one; farming for massive amounts of gold in a short period of time isn't "easy" unless you have the right build. The same goes for Droknar runs. A-Net's loyal consumers have found ways to make GW efficient in how they earn money, not by buying gold off of e-bay, but by using actual methods that are allowed, and, one would think, encouraged to be used by the devs. Sadly, the devs don't encourage efficiency at all, and frown upon any player earning a decent share of gold in a short amount of time.
Why? Why try to make this game more realistic? I didn't buy a first-person shooter by the name of Call of Duty, did I? Do necromancers exist in real life? How about Elementalists?
WHY BE REALISTIC? WHY?
Something I loved about this game was the fantasy aspect it allowed players to take part in. I remember when I first started playing this game, it was only MYTH, or LEGEND, perhaps, that a player could "solo the underworld". It was things like that that I planned on doing myself some day, as I felt that it was reward for reaching the pinnacle of your experience in playing this game to be able to become one of its richest players, via easier methods.
This particular update has very little to do with my complaint. It is the MOTIVATION by the developers to nerf absolutely EVERYTHING that players find as efficient. When I'm told by fellow Guild mates to "keep it a secret" of certain farm areas, just in fear that the developers will "nerf" said farm area, then I believe something is terribly wrong.
Devs shouldn't be trying to take away our fun... They should be making the game more challenging, wthout stepping on the more intelligent of the mix who have found ways around the repetitive, even-redundant manners of acquiring gold that plagued me my first few months playing this game.
And just when I'm ready to earn some gold the "easy way", after putting 6 or 7 months into this game already, I am confronted with the realization that A-Net wants to keep the game difficult... to have fun playing.

Heh, now theres an idea to acheive the much desired realism..
Just remove every class that doesn't or can't exist in the real world.
That would leave us with umm... Warriors, Rangers, and Monks who can stand around and pray everything will be alright...maybe do a little chanting, or something.
Oh and Res needs to be removed entirely. Not possible in RL, therefore not realistic. Once you die, thats it. Next game plz.

The Mission Problem is the most important and it needs to be addressed!!!
Missions should be managable to encourage the causual gamers(myself included).
What im worried about is why Anet mad an entire class of skills obsolete now for PvE and PvP. Why make the skills in the first place? Serious thought needs to be put in this whole line(aoe) if this patch is going to be kept. Of teh top of my head i think that there should be some kind of delay or %chance of running when hit by aoe. This would make it closer to actual opponents(PvP) who sometimes run, sometimes wait and run and sometimes sit through it(the idiots, maybe the chars can be the stupid ones ). Cast times makes these skills a real pain to use ad with the new results-dont even bother. I tink it might be interesting to shorten the cast times allowing quick bursts of aoe. If that were possible you would essentially have "dead zones" for map control and regrouping(of course it would also be nice if you could forcecast aoe on a certain area to do the same thing). This suggestion would not however be efficient at killing monsters and would not solve the problem of mission leangths. Just my tow cents ill leave it up to AN to recover and show us what they got-aoe can be a very usefull tool and if done right they might be able to work it into serious PvP.
So, people finaly have a use for snares in pvp... Complaining? Of course. It's not nearly as easy to farm. Bottom line, i see that about half/half care either way.
Kid farmers that are sick of figuring out new builds to copy = Horribly against it.
Farmers that have to keep finding out new builds to make = Those for the idea, just don't like how it is.
Pvp players that hate pve = Love the way this patch has pissed off so many.
Pvp players that farm = The patch was alright, and will deal with it, but hope it is changed.
Pvp players that play pve = Don't care either way.
That's about the way i see it. Think i'm wrong? Then poll the people using the poll.
Why is satire considered off-topic? Can an admin explain this, please?
For those of you deleting posts containing satire towards the obviously-excessive nerfing of the latest update, please, make a trip to your local bookstore and pick up any work by Jonathan Swift, William Shakespeare, or Oscar Wilde to become better acquainted.
Minor satire is fine, but when the whole thread is going that way then it's not. If you care to make a whole satire thread go to the offtopic forum. PM if you have problems. And we have enough petitions as is; look at the first post. A bunch of random petitions isn't as strong as one big one.
EDIT: Like I said, minor satire is fine. But two people going back and forth about it and being slightly politically incorrect doesn't make for good posts. PM me or some other mod, don't post here again about modding problems.

Whats with everyone making assumptions? I DON'T FARM AND YET BECAUSE I DON'T LIKE THE UPDATE IM A FARMER OR FIRE NUKER NOW . I'm a pvp player that hates pve and I hate it because i just want to ascend my last char and now it takes 60% longer for missions(trying to get decent runnres take forever). I almost never do any PvE at all but anet with their anti-farming agenda is just crap.
You would know since you do it all the time... Just kidding buddy.
As for me I don't care... PVP ALL THE WAY!
i'm right with you. went on a pvp benge for the past 3 months. takin a break for now. decided i needed more storage for my stuff and got another account. now i'm back in pve with a fresh account. 2 weeks later poo hit the fan might be going back rather sooner than later but i like the new pve its like a totally different game.
i like the update just needs some work. i think this game was better in beta for only one reason. the people in beta knew the game would have glitches and bugs and worked with them to help get it fixed. now people just yell at the top of their lungs. report the bug and wait for them to fix it. its on their to do list along with everything else on their schedule. the devs are real people just like us working from 9-5 (probly longer) to make this game better and shake things up to keep us on our toes.
the fixes are coming. i could image these updates are not very easy seeing the scale of this game and they have to do it while the game continues on with millions always logged on. they have made a quick tweak within hours of the update. if that isn't customer service i don't know what is. more tweaks are coming just wait for it.
He's just trying to do his job, my post was basically spam.
Though I thought the save vs puke was pretty groovy of me. I am a reformed D&D geek, I admit it.
Anyways, I'm Anti patch for a variety or reasons.
I do believe that if we're off topic deleting, that anyone that is telling me that I'm weak because i can't adapt, when they don't even know if I did or not, should be deleted. As well as any other snide or condescending posts for people that oppose the patch.
The game took a hard shift under players feet, and it's not their fault that they want to raise their voice against the patch as long as it's not something similar to F* GW. As long as people defend the patch, or detest it in a calm manner, with reasons(sarcastic or not, because most sarcasm is in root rhetorical, which means to make one think).
A debate of people in a rpg society is going to have a good bit of flamage, or atleast alot of smoke and fire. I like this game, and so far the board, but some of the people here really irk me. I'm keeping my restraint, some aren't.
*Edit
I just noticed that I'm prominent citizen. 2 days. I'm a mouthy sonofabi.....yeah.
Twicky
I would like to see polls, or warnings of changes atleast. They probably have little test groups that go and play with the updates, but, for example, it hit the fan this week, and we definately don't need more of that. They should make some sort of way to run it by the masses. Login on web page with game account, one vote per game copy(not IP for obvious reasons), on new updates.
They wouldn't screw up like with this last patch(we can all agree on atleast the first patch was bad). And they'd know if they're keeping the public happy. Poll results would show player trends also, after time.

I think you Farmers who think that farming is gone forever havent thought of this
THIS PATCH CAN'T COUNTER ALL AOE SPELLS
AoE one time effects such as Rodgort's Invocation are still powerful and griffons won't run away in time
However I agree this patch is pretty stupid but still guys farming isn't dead .
After all the patch that made Drokar Running Harder Couldn't kill it instead it allowed skilled runners who could make it to charge higher prices.
I see a the coming E/Mo Farmer and mybe this patch will help them
I'm done arguing, but you seriously are a good replacement.
The patch was anti-farming, covered as "realism" and bought by some of the masses.
Farming still happens, and it's not necessarily realistic unless it's oversimplified as "it's dumb to stand there" No one said monsters were smart, just fierce.(enough said, I've covered that one topic, extensively...IF anyone wants to counter that, skim all of my posts, not just this topic before you come to me)
Anyways, like I said, I'm' done arguing.
I posted a possible solution as a new topic in riverside, hope over and take a look, I tried to take a meet in the middle approach.

the devs are looking at long term. players are looking at the short term. you can't tell what's going on inside of the devs or what plans they have for the future. they tell us as much as we need to know about future updates in the many fansite fridays and annoucements. the warnings are there if you look at what they say over and over.
i have never seen a game that the devs acually talk to its players on a regular basis in a public forum. if you read alot of those fansite fridays you would fore seen this very easily. it was almost painted in black in white as it got closer to the update.
devs will change the game and i will change with it. its what i love about this game and will never consider that a bad feature of this game. if i wanted a game that NEVER changed i'd play wow and pay for it monthly.
